The concept of utilizing stem cell therapy to bring about tissue repair or regeneration is an exciting avenue of contemporary biomedical research and holds tremendous promise for novel treatments in several areas of medicine. Current studies of stem cells and tissue development by department faculty pertain to the cardiovascular system, bone marrow, intervertebral cartilage, retina, and spermatogenesis.
